Spring & Summer Positions
We anticipate the need to hire multiple staff as we gear up for our spring & summer mountain activities. All positions are part-time and do not include benefits. Hours may be up to 30 hours per week and may include weekends, late afternoons, early evenings and holidays Cori background checks may be required.
Bike Mechanic: Service, maintain and repair mountain bikes for our rental fleet and for guests who ride at Thunder Mountain Bike Park. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assemble new bikes for our rental fleet. Identify faults, damage, and wear on mountain bikes. Estimate parts & labor costs and provide customer quotes. Carry out routine maintenance service and safety checks on bikes. Repair bikes: (i.e. wheels, derailleurs, brakes, levers, cables, chains, tires). Wash and clean bikes. Maintain inventory of parts in bike shop for retail and rental fleet. Order bike parts, check in orders, label prices,and adjust inventory. Keep workshop clean, maintain tools & equipment in good repair. Test ride bikes to diagnose or to ensure they are functioning properly. Assist with special bike events or promotions at the resort. Inspect returning rental bikes before they return to bike rental fleet. Maintain record of all service work performed on bike rental fleet. Sell products and repair services using POS software. Process cash, credit & gift card transactions accurately & efficiently. Manage the till, count start cash and prepare nightly deposit bags. Perform other tasks as assigned by manager. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): Skilled in providing outstanding customer service. Experience with current mountain bike technology. Able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment. Bike shop service experience or mechanic certification required. Mountain bike riding experience required. Able to work independently with little to no supervision. Physical Demands: Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 60 lbs. Must be able to stand, bend, climb, lift, reach, push and pull repetitively. Must be mentally attentive and focused at all times. Shift Considerations: Hours may be long, including early morning through early evening. Frequent weekend and holiday shifts. Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least age 18. Competencies: Friendly Service: Treat people courteously and respond in a helpful manner. Reliability: Consistently complete tasks meeting all job requirements on time. Work Standards: Maintain high standards in the quality & consistency of work.
Bike Guide: Provide mountain bike instruction and guidance to guests using the Thunder Mountain Bike Park. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Orientate guests on the bike trails system and bike park guidelines. Teach basic to advanced technical skills to guests of all ages and ability. Enforce safety protocols using proper safety techniques. Know the day’s itinerary and safety plan. Report any trail or feature work needed to the appropriate manager. Educate riders in the proper use of personal protection gear. Recognize equipment flaws or inadequacies and recommend solutions. Lead guests to push their limits while still remaining safe. Perform necessary trail maintenance work when required. Assist staff with large bike events; (races, demo days, group outings). Administer basic first aid to guests when necessary. Assist with routine maintenance of rental bikes & gear. Assist with bike rentals when necessary. Perform other tasks as assigned by manager. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): Skilled in providing outstanding customer service. First Aid & CPR certification required. On-site training provided. Must successfully complete bike guide training course, Level 1 or Level 2 Competent riding ability on all trails you guide. Know how to take smart risks putting safety first. Prior riding experience on technical mountain bike terrain. Experience in leading others on challenging bike terrain. Able to demonstrate solid teaching skills. Adhere to company procedures for maintaining a safe worksite. Create a safe, fun and educational atmosphere. Facilitate amazing field experiences with our guests. Communicate clearly using 2 way radios. Physical Demands: This is a physically demanding position. Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 60 lbs. Must be able to stand, bend, climb, lift, reach, push and pull repetitively. Must be mentally attentive and focused at all times. Must be able to adapt to climate and work in extreme weather conditions. Shift Considerations: Hours may be long, including early morning through early evening. Frequent weekend and holiday shifts. Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least age 18. Other Requirements: Cori background check required prior to being hired. You must supply your own equipment; bike, helmet, goggles, pads, shoes. Perceptive: Identify problems that impact job performance and initiate solutions.
Transport whitewater rafting guests to river locations in company vehicles during the rafting season, (mid-May through early October). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide transportation to various raft launch & take out locations. Perform safety inspection of vehicle prior to and after trips. Report any vehicle mechanical problems to management. Assist with rafting gear; packing, handing it out and collecting after trip. Clean vehicle; sweep floor, empty trash, close and wash windows. Fuel vehicle when needed and maintain all fluid levels. Maintain trip logs and other driver paperwork as required. Drive safely and follow all regulations while driving our vehicles. Secure trailer properly to van and secure rafts to trailer. Communicate with guests & staff and make each trip a fun experience. Provide driver service for other resort events and functions as needed. Perform other tasks as assigned by manager. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): Skilled in providing outstanding customer service. Must have a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements (either Passenger & Airbrake endorsement or school bus endorsement). Current DOT medical card (must be carried with you). Clean Motor Vehicle Driver Record. Must be able to turn bus around in designated areas. Must be able to safely navigate and back up van towing a trailer. Physical Demands: No smoking or use of tobacco products on the job. Shift Considerations: Hours may be morning through early evenings. Frequent weekend and holiday shifts. Other Part Time Positions:
Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful customer service for guests who require assistance for any of our resort activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Provide expert advice to guests regarding our activities. Answer phone, retrieve voice messages and transfer calls when needed. Know all of the resort’s products, prices, hours and availability. Know all discounts, special pricing, or other marketing promotions. Answer questions and respond to e-mails directed to Customer Service. Handle guest complaints in a professional and diplomatic way. Direct guests & vistors to the appropriate location or staff when required. Assist with special events or promotions at the resort. Act as liason at base lodge for emergencies or bad weather situations. Make reservations, collect payment, prepare quotes & send confirmations. Check in rafting and zipline guests or guests of other reserved activities. Verify accurate completion of waivers and apply wristbands to guests. Sell products & services (ticket, pass, locker, rental, lesson, gift card). Process cash, credit & gift card transactions accurately & efficiently. Manage the till, count start cash and prepare nightly deposit bags. Complete sales reports and accounting forms for back office. Assist with marketing calls, mailings, or brochure deliveries. Monitor web-site for accuracy and notify manager of corrections needed. Redeem on-line coupons and discounts (i.e. Groupon ). Maintain e-mail lists for current or prospective guests. Provide other information and assistance to guests when needed. May cross train as retail clerk. Perform other tasks as assigned by manager. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): Skilled in providing excellent customer service. Specialist knowledge of products used for ski, raft, bike & other activities. Computer savvy, able to quickly learn sales and reservation programs. Excellent interpersonal skills, friendly and helpful disposition. Outstanding communication skills in person and on the phone. Neat and professional appearance. Portray a positive company image. Able to identify and perform other tasks during non-busy times. Able to count cash and perform simple mathematical functions. Communicate clearly using 2 way radios. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, sit, and work at keyboard for long periods of time. Must be tolerant of temperature variances inside and outside lodge. Shift considerations: Must be flexible, frequent night, weekend and holiday shifts.
