What is the Fife Brook Trip?
The Fife Brook section of the Deerfield River is the most popular rafting trip in Massachusetts. With several Class I & II rapids and the Class III Zoar Gap Rapids, this section of river is the perfect introduction to whitewater rafting. Great for families and friends and highly sought after by school groups, summer camps, and scouts!

What will my day look like?
Check in: 10:00 am
**Check in times may vary depending on time of year and river conditions.
- Waivers reviewed & signed at check in desk.
- Wetsuit rentals & Change for the river.
Gear Up & Pre-trip Orientation:
Once all guests have arrived in the Berkshire Rafting Center.
Everyone is equipped with:
- PFD (personal flotation device)
- Helmet
- Paddle
Safety Briefing
This is when we talk about the equipment you’re wearing, proper paddling technique, what happens if you fall out, and how we get you back in the raft.
Departure for the river: 10:30-11:00 am
Hop on the bus, Enjoy the scenic ride to the put-in, and prepare for a great day out on the river!
Picnic Lunch
You’ve made it through Zoar Gap time to celebrate with a delicious riverside picnic! Remember to save room for Lynn’s homemade cookie-brownies!!
Take-out: 3pm-4pm
Congratulations, You’re now an experienced rafter! Just a short drive from our private take-out back to the Rafting Center at Berkshire East and dry clothes.
Remainder of the Day
After you’ve eaten, we host a slide show presentation of our rafting journey. You will have an opportunity to purchase your photos, check out our souvenirs, or relax with a cold beverage in our mountain side pub, the Crazy Horse – But we recommend topping off the day with a ride on the Thunderbolt, North America’s Longest Mountain Coaster, A zip line canopy tour with Berkshire East Canopy Tours, downhill mountain biking at Thunder Mountain Bike Park!!
Trip duration is approximately five to six hours, check-in to departure.
