Schist Course Walking Inspection
Schist Course Walking Inspection
I am here at Thunder Mountain Bike Park and this is the official walking inspection of the Schist downhill race course for the Eastern States Cup race. We will have everybody here at the top. We got a World Cup style rolling gate. It will be built here. A lot falls down to the lift line so immediately after leaving the race platform you’ll encounter a steep rock garden into a left hand turn underneath our 12.
Then we’ll get right into a left hand off camber turn right in the ski run underneath the chairlift and it will fade over the edge of the ski run down into a right-hand turn. So after negotiating your left hand off camber turn underneath the lift your gonna go into a right-hand turn at the bottom of the fade, this will take you into a tabletop.
After coming down the ski run underneath the lift, it will go over this roller and enter into the woods there. This is the second Steve Brock section and at the bottom of it you’ll be greeted by a right-hand turn sending you into the woods. This first wood section is quite loomey, roots here and there. Some rocks. Little bit of double fault line.
So once you’re in the woods and you make it to this first shecane here, after that we’ve opened it up to about 20 feet wide. So after you’ve negotiated the third rocky steep you
encounter a little bit dirt trail here with the double foul line.
After that double foul line section you’ll go into a left-hand sweeper that has a little bit of a look at the bottom to help you out. So after this second double foul line you come into a nice right-hander. After that right-hander you’ll come back into another double foul line, then you’ll be going into another off camber loose left-hand turn. Also we’ve opened this one of about 20 feet so the riders can have their choice of lines.
So after the ensuing left hand sweeper you will come into the gumdrop, you’ll jump that and into the right-hander afterwards. After you exit the gumdrop and hit this right hand steep, you exit out on some double foul line routing rock reverse still no peddling. This is the end of the first traverse in the woods, could be an opportunity to put in a couple pedal strokes for some folks.
So after your first traverse you’ll come into a left-hand rocky steep that exits into a right hand in the woods. Then you’re mildly rocky steep relatively smooth, a section will go into this right hand turn.
Another nice section where you have a choice of line, you can jump here the tree stump down the trail and into an off-camera left or follow the yellow line. Another spyware line choice is super important gotta kind of an off-camber foul line, left-hand turn, no real burn, semi rugged, rocks and roots, tree stumps. So now we are slight traverse here, a double pedal strokes, then into this slightly off camber left hand sweeping turn.
So then a nice double foul line traverse through these gates then down into a right-hand steep sweeper. So after your 2nd Ski Run Crossing you’re gonna cross and go into the woods and a steep rock garden double foul line, few roots here and there.
So upon on crossing the ski run you’ll have a little jump here back into the woods for a right-hand turn to go right here that’s going to take you right out into the ski run. This left hand turn will lead you down into Gravitron when you make the right hand turn at the hemlock no breaks all gas to the finish line. Now there’s a little left-hander, few rocks stacked up on the corner and you can use as a berm if you like.
Here to the step down out of the woods, yet to step out of the woods under chair number one is across the ski run and hits the canyon gap which isn’t legit, it actually was a canyon gap but we filled it with dirt. You see that we filled that in completely rollable for the amateur racers with the guys bringing the gas can easily clear this stepping down into a right-hand burn which will go into a fall away fade at the finish line.
So here after the 28 foot step down you go into a right-hand berm towards the finish line. So here at the Vermont cheddar cheese wedge you’ll be stepping down this, will be the race timing will finish and then the races will have a crowd at the bottom. So that was your walking inspection of the Schist, our race track for the 2015 eastern states Cup Series.
