Mountain Partnership

In May 2018, the Schaefer family of Charlemont, MA, longtime owners and managers of Berkshire East Mountain Resort, purchased Catamount Ski Area. Integration of the two businesses began immediately. The similarities between the two ski areas and their proximity, while having completely different market bases, made for a logical partnership.

One of the first integrations was the Berkshire Summit Pass. This winter pass comes in four flavors, Unlimited, Locals (6-day), Mid-week, and Night and is completely reciprocal with its sister resort. Additionally, discounts on winter activities and summer adventures will be shared between the resorts for each respective customer base.

Catamount recently opened the longest Zip Line in the United States, and Berkshire East is home to multiple best-in-class summer activities such as rafting, biking, zip lines, and a mountain coaster.

Catamount is closer to New York City than the Catskill Ski Areas and is a much larger, more diverse mountain than any of the CT or Southern Massachusetts ski areas. It is located in the heart of a world-class cultural tourism area, the Berkshire’s, and 20 minutes from Hudson, NY.

Berkshire East is in one of the coolest valleys in New England. The Deerfield River Valley, home to one of the best whitewater rivers on the East Coast, is a working landscape with gorgeous views. Charlemont is a slice of old New England. Berkshire East is quickly becoming known as an industry leader in summer activities, renewable energy, and providing customers amazing conditions.
